Families

From the moment you enter Elyria you have a built-in support system from other players in your family

Families in Chronicles of Elyria become the center of your social experience. Designed to provide what a guild might in another game, families are much more than just a chat channel and flair for your character. While you will share a surname and have special ways to communicate with your family, you will also share resources such as a home or equipment. You will be able to contact your family members from afar and they will be able to move and care for your body should you become incapacitated. And what's best, is that you will be bolstered in the presence of your family members, and lesfile:/soulbound/local/Websites/CoEWebsite/Website/Areas/Game/Pages/faq.cshtmls-able characters will be raised up when you are in a group together. You can do more as a family!

Join a Player-Run Family

Join a Player-Run Family

Each character you create comes from somewhere and belongs in the world. Our unique family system is the key to sharing and growing your legacy with your real-life friends and family as you play. Being a part of a player-run family could mean inheriting titles, riches, and character traits from your parents and ancestors. This is the start of your dynasty!

The player-run family you select at character creation can have a huge impact on your social experience. There is no tutorial or starter area in Elyria, but a large or well-established family can serve the same role. When you join a family, you'll begin the game within your family's settlement where your relatives live. Your family members are your allies, united in the common goal of expanding and providing for the group. You share in the reputation of your family as you each work to increase your fame and bring renown to your name. Your choice of family (and their social class) impacts how other NPCs, OPCs, and players interact with you.

Or Start a Family of Your Own

Joining a family makes starting as a new character a little easier, but the support network that is your family is also important later in your character's life. You may want to expand your family, or bring new characters into the fold. You can marry someone and create children to build out your dynasty. You can even invite your IRL friend to play as your child. Our family system fully supports official marriages between characters of same or differing genders. Same gender spouses can produce offspring through a surrogate willing to enter into a Child Contract.

Reap the Rewards of Previous Generations

Reap the Rewards of Previous Generations

Just as a character's spirit survives death as the soul and preserves its development, your character's gains in the real world can also be preserved through your family. Every character can designate an heir who will inherit their wealth, possessions, and even some of their reputation. Families make it possible to build a sterling reputation over time or establish a tradition of honor that spans generations.

When your character dies permanently and it is time for your soul to start a new life you can continue on in your family. If you have designated your child as your heir you can begin your soul's next life as them, using a spark of life, giving you access to your family's wealth and possessions.
